Two Arrests Following Heathrow Irritant Spray Attack

Placeholder Heathrow Airport scene
This incident caused the temporary closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 parking area.

An additional two individuals are now in custody related to a theft at Heathrow Airport where over twenty individuals were injured by what is thought to be an irritant spray, as stated by police.

A 24-year-old man, was taken into custody in Lambeth for suspected theft and assault and a 23-year-old woman was arrested for suspected conspiracy to commit robbery. They both are still being held, the force said.

The arrests follow an investigation into an assault at the multi-storey car park at Heathrow's Terminal 3 on Sunday. Prior to the attack, a pair of female travelers were robbed of their luggage after getting out of a parking garage elevator.

A toddler aged three was one of the those hurt during the incident. Five people went to hospital for medical care and have since been discharged.

Officers detained a man in his thirties for suspected theft and assault close to the scene. He was subsequently released under investigation while inquiries continue.

Authorities were called at approximately 8:10 in the morning GMT following reports of several individuals hurt by a noxious substance believed to be pepper spray.

The attack - an event that police said was isolated and not considered an act of terror - caused train delays and the partial closure of the main airport tunnel and the T3 parking facility briefly.
